The awakening to our World and its times
of past, present and future, took place as I laying my back on a make shift bed
out back under a large tree growing a ways back of the family home.

At, this time in my young life - in the dark of night -
Never before had I slept anywhere (to my knowledge) that there wasn't
some kind or type of ceiling or at least canvas top -
that did not block my full view of the heavens skies in the dark of night.

Oh, yes - I had memories of a few summer nights were
bursts of fire works lit up the areas of our long graveled road and
dirt drive way. Or
in some specials cases flares that rocketed up

But, between seeing the exciting different colors of fireworks
- and - then there was that time --- a special holiday -- later in the year

Other than those memories of remembrances and up and
until this new event - of sleeping outside - under the stars ((for the first time)),
I had never stayed outdoors, after dark, much longer than the older folks allowed.

And, those times - the older folks allowed me outside after dark - though rarely -
only occurred because - or was - about completing some type of chore and or
being around others more than anything having to do with viewing and

Yes! There were more than just a few times and
I am old enough and do remember having to go out to
the outhouse after dark whether it was a hot summer night or the cold of
winter.

But, came the time! And, finally it was happening!
Because of my very large family of siblings and the occasion of
moving to another location with very
limited room of the small house, it was necessary and the
necessity called for some of us boys to sleep outside.

And, then on one very cool - late Spring or early Summer night -
for my first time, I was there. Yup! I was where I lay looking up -
And - I could really view and was realizing and seeing the starry brightness of a
massive star studded sky and the darkness of a few clouds flowing by as they glowed
and showed - their silver ray linings - even when though no Moon - had yet to show it face.

It may be that at this time - I thought I was the last to know about it -
but, it was the first time - that I actually felt the movement - and realized,
under me - above me - and all around me - the Earth -
and the stars of the massive heavens, I was seeing -
- that each and every single one of them, and the Earth -
- then as now - had and have - and each being so vastly different -
had their own courses to travel - and each -
their own phenomenal speeds and pulling - gravitational tide fields.

How does one explain that in the younger part of my childhood and
due to ceilings blocking my view, and all the past required early to bed times,
and very limited light coming from any other rooms -
- and with a kid's imagination at work -
knowing a darkness that seem to creep in with possible imminent dangers - of the unwanted -
lurking creatures amongst the shadows - and just knowing about a little girl that had a little
curl and the Goblins would get me - and UP went the blankets over my head!

Yes - that was a part of what had been nights (bed time) starting the first few years of my life -
And, I had spent most of what could be called "missed out" starry night times
- with blankets pulled over my head - laying there in the darkness -- soon to sleep as
Sunsets left their horizons in the Dusk and gave way to the nights.

How had I missed all this my entire life? That is what I was saying to myself.
Yes, and again, me, not being the sharpest knife in the kitchen drawer,
left me confused as to why, for the first time - and actually bedding down -
- outside - and at night - how had I gone through my lifetime without seeing
any of the past nights without ever knowing how
wonderful the darkness at night could really be.
And, how the wonderful darkness of night allowed me to see
the beautiful starry fields of the skies for real - for the first time!

In the past I had heard my Grandfather speak about a story having
to do with finding diamonds in your own back yard -
And - for the first time - I thought I'd begun to understand a little
of and about that story.

Yes, thoughts and things seem to be coming together all at the
same time as I had realized to my great surprise - it was also
for the first time
I was feeling something that was and had always been before me -

to be aware and know and feel the effects and movements of the Earth -
- the bodies in the heavens I could actually see -
and beginning to understand what was meant of the named called the Universe
- and about various and vast paths as my imagination and feelings seem to and
rolled along with all other bodies in the heavens.

And, then I found myself wondering why and what was causing the different
pulling and pushing and rippling speeds of the Universe and how it caused me
to have and my own personal exhilaration as times clock seem to stop.

And, as the breath of the mighty majesty of the heavens were carrying me along
in the winds and waves of a time that something inside of me seem to know
of all so long ago!
It was, then, and still is so exiting - and at the time I couldn't
understand why it had never been the most discussed topic by all mankind.

Why, I thought, were these values of the heavens and starry skies
never talked about in school? Had I not paid attention?
And, wondering how could I have missed out on all this fantastic knowledge!

I just could not believe how gigantic the Heavens were and are.
How really startled I was to find out how wonderful it was then,
and still is, to this very day. Some where around 8-9 of age at that time
and now in my 7th decades of age, today. Whew!

 Yes, it was for the first time for me, and at that time I began viewing
a brightness and wonderful places and people in the skies of stars.

Why at that moment fear did not enter into my mind,
but instead a awed curiosity - and for lack of a better word,
- "wonderment" - took over me!
I was watching and listening to all that was taking place around me and knew
that made me so happy - that I just wanted to cry and cry
- but I think the smile on my face prevented any and all tears.

As, I lay there looking up into the heavens and - though
laying on my back felt and seemed to be standing and
being in and amongst these strangers - who yet
seem to be so familiar to me.

As, I looked and listened for what seemed a very long space
in time - I finally found myself turning slowly to my side
and while reaching - to touch him - to make sure -
that my older brother, Max, was still laying by my side
and I did touch him - and being relived by knowing he was
there with me -- I asked my older brother 'Max' if he knew
who these people are?

YOUCH!- Me the kid brother, thinking my big brother, Max,
was feeling and seeing the same exact same things as I was.
Well, I was in for a big surprise!

You see, it began to become apparent that
I waking Max out of that first slip of slumber
that can take one over just as sleep comes into
to rest ones body and soul....
And, I was soon to find out that I had scared the heck out of Max!

His comeback was something like, "What? WHAT!!! David, what did you
say?" And, I asked once again - "Max, who are these people?"

Then, Max, all the sudden, seemed startled, awake!
He, grabbing tightly onto my arm - and, in a low -- but easy to tell -
a frighten whispering low voice beginning to raise - asked "What PEOPLE, David?"

Where are they?" Then, that big brother of mine
Really startled me! When, I could seem them
in what was broad daylight all round us - and Max acting like he couldn't?
I just knew Max was funning me or was still half a sleep.

But then, Max, again, whispering in a low frighten voice
- but - almost a hiss- said "Dave, I CAN'T SEE THEM!"
Then, Max, again, but in more of a demanding
- low whisper - wanted me to point were
the were standing. He demanded to know in what
direction were the people I was looking at.

And, my reaction was that of getting upset and
words came from me - along the line of - 'STOP IT MAX!'

"THEY'RE RIGHT THERE!" And, I was pointing to some of those
directly in front of us. And, making the mistake
that little brothers can at times. While pointing

brother "LOOK STUPID! - THEY'RE STANDING RIGHT THERE!"

I thought - or just knew - like me, Max, could see them
and was just teasing me. And, for calling him stupid, yikes! -
I expected, at least, to be slugged on the shoulder.

became much tighter to the point that extreme pain was felt,
it was my turn to become scared - as I realized
- for the first time - I was not only seeing many fields of stars...
and felt them and the Earth moving, but, for some reason -
it was also, around these people, as bright as any daylight..

And, as I was viewing people dressed in strange type
of clothing and a little less than average I had seen
on any full grown adult, before.

But, Max, really wasn't seeing what I clearly was viewing!

well fashioned boards full of markings...
Though strange to me were the way
the marking stood out... - instead of on...
Not carved in... or scratched on...

Yes, the individual discs or boards, that each person held...
to me - looked like large dark stone boards except for
their markings seem to be some how printed in lights.
But, I couldn't see any electrical cords anywhere.
And, for a youngster like me that just didn't make sense.

As for the marking?
No, at the time, I couldn't tell whether it was writing, pictures
or just plain scribbling or all three.

could I read? The answer is YES I could read...
And - I was well acquainted with pictures in books, markings
and writings even carved into trees or written on mediums
such as paper. But, never had I seen lights on any boards
that could be carried around... without being plugged into a socket...

Again, though not exactly being the sharpest
pencil in the box - still
in my lifetime I'd seen all these things, printed book, pictures,
paintings, carving, etc.. many a time -

with some of these discs - with some being round,
some square, and others box shaped and or rectangular -
and all at least an inch thick -
with the strange markings in lights. Nope.. it was all new to me.

Again, and no! I was a simple kid and had
never seen anything like those thick plates and
or discs they were holding...
And... once in a while - one person - or another...

heads in acceptance of what was being shared.

into visual scenes easily viewed by anyone's eyes
and was as easy to understand as looking across
an open valley.

Yes from a peace to fear... circumstances began to change!
Me... thinking automatically my big brother, Max, had known
and understood even better than me - but he didn't ...

- and movement between all of the heaven nights and days
of all the past, the present and what was to come...
I had never heard of it before... but they made it so simple it understand...

towards a settings between two waves of stars.

And, until Max's past on almost 4 decades later, we reflected many a time and
discussed with laughs and even, at times tears, what a night it was that, we,

Though I was not able to see behind me...
In front of me there were large stone walls without
any seams or lines of any type...

But, looking forward in the place where I had been,
the seamless walls, at about an average adult shoulders height...
Began some three major openings...
And, from floor level it seemed all had been placed in away that to look through
these portals - they were meant for looking up to the skies.
One, to the East with know type of frame...
Then one to the North with a beautiful heavenly painting or frame..
Then one to the South was similar to the Eastern opening...
All meant to be looking up towards any of the
three different directions and viewing the starry heavens.

Describing back then to my big brother -
And, I didn't know, why then, but, the people I have viewed
and heard were speaking and looking towards one another as equals
and to me, as an equal, also...

Well, it just had no place in that time

and the alcoholic life of our parents and as we
as their children were effected by it - just called for my silence.
Right or wrong - at the time - that's the way it was.
